چکیده

Background Acute CMR imaging using late gadolinium (LGE) and T2-weighted imaging (T2W) is used to assess salvageable myocardium in STEMI patients post percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) . However, current methods of assessing acute myocardial injury are being debated, and a more robust method would be desirable. T1-mapping quantitatively characterizes the myocardium without the need for comparing signal intensities against reference regions (ROI).

Cardiovascular magnetic resonance by non contrast T1-mapping allows assessment of severity of injury in acute myocardial infarction

BACKGROUND Current cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) methods, such as late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and oedema imaging (T2W) used to depict myocardial ischemia, have limitations. Novel quantitative T1-mapping techniques have the potential to further characterize the components of ischemic injury. In patients with myocardial infarction (MI) we sought to investigate whether state-of the...

Quantification of both the area-at-risk and acute myocardial infarct size in ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction using T1-mapping

BACKGROUND A comprehensive cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in reperfused ST-segment myocardial infarction (STEMI) patients can be challenging to perform and can be time-consuming. We aimed to investigate whether native T1-mapping can accurately delineate the edema-based area-at-risk (AAR) and post-contrast T1-mapping and synthetic late gadolinium (LGE) images can quantify MI size at 1.5...

Tissue injury characterization by pre-contrast T1 mapping post myocardial infarction

Background Myocardial scar and edema can be assessed by late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and T2W cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) respectively, but each has important limitations. T1-mapping has emerged as an alternative method to characterize acute ischemic injury and contemporary mapping sequences make this clinically feasible. We assessed the T1 relaxation time in myocardial segments exhibi...

CMR Native T1 Mapping Allows Differentiation of Reversible Versus Irreversible Myocardial Damage in ST-segment–Elevation Myocardial Infarction

BACKGROUND CMR T1 mapping is a quantitative imaging technique allowing the assessment of myocardial injury early after ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction. We sought to investigate the ability of acute native T1 mapping to differentiate reversible and irreversible myocardial injury and its predictive value for left ventricular remodeling. METHODS AND RESULTS Sixty ST-segment-elevation ...

Characterization of acute myocardial infarction by pre-contrast T1 mapping

Background Cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) techniques such as late gadolinium enhancement (LGE) and edema imaging (T2W) are used to delineate acute myocardial infarction (MI). However, the use of LGE and T2W to assess reversible injury acutely is challenged by the dynamic changes occurring in the myocardial tissue. T1mapping is a novel technique that provides voxel-wise quantitative inf...
